This early 20th-century gilded wood Burmese Nat-Pwe, or standing female image, might be Shingwa, or "Lady Bandy-Legs." Covered in red and black lacquer the gold-leafed image has wide-set feet peaking out beneath her lacquer patterned skirt, painted shell inset eyes, and long inset hair tied with a yellow fabric ribbon, and a yellow lace fabric jacket. Minor signs of age, otherwise fine condition.

This piece is sourced from Guillermina Emy LaFever, who is known for her unique, quirky art and furnishings with an Asian emphasis. She has traveled the world acquiring and merchandising her incredible collection for 35 years.
