The Japanese fireman's hood encompasses the head, neck, and face with slits for the eyes and flaps that allow the fireman to uncover his face. Two flaps on the sides cover his neck. Kanji reads “Watanabe.”  The outer fabric is done in traditional heavy sashiko stitching and lined with a patterned indigo cotton. (Stool and head form not included.).
 
This piece is sourced from Guillermina Emy LaFever, who is known for her unique, quirky art and furnishings with an Asian emphasis. She has traveled the world acquiring and merchandising her incredible collection for 35 years.
