This Meiji period Japanese futon cover, a double ikat pattern in four panels, depicts Kumamoto Castle with the character for good fortune in the upper corners. This is a special type of textile from Kurume in Kyushu, Japan. With just three minor repairs and one small stain, the cover is otherwise in fine condition. Made circa 1890, it measures 66 x 48 inches. This piece is sourced from Guillermina Emy LaFever, who is known for her unique, quirky art and furnishings with an Asian emphasis. She has traveled the world acquiring and merchandising her incredible collection for 35 years.
