Japan's Takazawa Candle has been making plant-based candles from sumac, rice bran, and rapeseed flower oil since 1892. They are the only remaining candle maker in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture, following this traditional method of candle-making, using sumac wax from the Kyushu region and Japanese washi paper from Shimane Prefecture for wicks. Each candle is made by hand, one at a time, to ensure the highest quality. The flames of Takazawa's candles, symbolic of ancestral wisdom, are bigger and brighter than those of other makers due to the special wick made from a unique recipe dating back to the 16th century.

Koma candle stands are designed for their candles to burn beautifully. They are made of traditional Nambu cast iron and handcrafted by Japanese craftsman, Hisao Iwashimizi. With this stand, wax does not build up at the bottom as it has a gentle hollowed base where melted wax can pool.
