Korean Buncheong Ceramics from Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art

Whimsical, rustic, direct, fresh, audacious, contemporary — these are some of the qualities that have been attributed to the type of Korean ceramics known as buncheong. Buncheong ceramics, on view at the Asian Art Museum in the exhibition Poetry in Clay, are characterized by their informal style and their use of white clay as an aesthetic feature.

Poetry in Clay was on display in the museum's Korean galleries from Sept. 16, 2011 through Jan. 8, 2012.
