Kazuyuki Ohtsu’s harmonious landscapes come alive with crystalline color and fine detail. The woodblock prints of the Japanese countryside feature rippling ponds, cherry trees in full bloom, and views of Mt. Fuji. Buildings and bridges may appear as well, but people rarely do. Working in the sōsaku hanga (creative prints) tradition, he handles every step of the process: painting the original pictures, carving the woodblocks, and printing the images. Ohtsu’s tranquil artworks reflect the changing seasons.
