Jon is a self-trained artist originally from Kaneohe, Hawaii and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Steeped in the natural beauty of O’ahu, Hawai’i, his island upbringing instilled in him Indigenous lessons of appreciation and respect for nature, forming the foundation of his fascination with the natural and wild world, which deeply influences and drives his work.

Nectar features a new “flauna” creature highlighting the divine in nature. Symbiosis is one of my favorite things in the world and here, my flower bird honey queen provides sustenance and a home for these happy bees. Ah bees, the magical little workers that tirelessly and generously do the work that is literally results as fruit from their labor.

This piece is an ode to bees and the world’s pollinators that are so essential to our way of life. It’s also a reminder that we can also use our form and energy to provide and be in service for others.
